The market

Supplying protective clothing to Ghana

Ghana runs two strong industrial workwear markets side by side. Offshore oil and gas operates out of the Takoradi supply base, putting crews into flame retardant coveralls under operator HSE standards that are written to international specification. Inland, the gold mining belt around Tarkwa, Obuasi and Ahafo employs large workforces in abrasion-heavy conditions. Sanctum Work Wear manufactures in Mumbai and ships to Tema and Takoradi.

Ghana's offshore sector is operated largely by international companies applying their own global HSE standards, which means the certification question gets asked early and directly. Our FR fabrics are certified to EN ISO 11612 and EN ISO 11611 and we supply the certificates with the consignment, which puts us in a different conversation from suppliers who can only offer an unsupported claim.

Compliance

Importing PPE into Ghana

Import registration is completed by your Ghana-registered consignee. We supply the manufacturer-side documentation that registration depends on.

Standards body
The Ghana Standards Authority sets and administers applicable product standards and conformity requirements.
Customs
Entry is processed through Ghana's integrated customs management system, lodged by the Ghanaian importer.
Buyer-specified standards
In practice the binding requirement offshore is the operator's own HSE specification, named in the tender. International operators typically cite EN or equivalent standards.
Local requirement
The consignee must be a Ghana-registered importer. Petroleum sector suppliers may also face local content registration requirements administered by the sector regulator.
Documents we issue
Commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, ISO 9001:2015 certificate, EN ISO 11612 and EN ISO 11611 fabric certificates, and mill test reports for the supplied lot.

Certification

Quality system
ISO 9001:2015, covering the Mumbai manufacturing operation.
Flame retardant fabric
Our flame retardant garments are made from fabrics certified to EN ISO 11612 (clothing to protect against heat and flame) and EN ISO 11611 (clothing for welding and allied processes). Certification is held at fabric level. Fabric certificates and mill test reports for the lot used on your order are supplied with the consignment.
Certificates on request
Copies of the ISO 9001:2015 certificate and the applicable fabric certificates are issued with quotations and accompany every consignment.
Matching certification to your tender: flame retardant requirements are written differently by every client, and the fabric construction that satisfies one specification will not always satisfy another. Send us the relevant clause from your tender or HSE standard with your enquiry and we will confirm in writing which of our certified fabrics can be supplied against it, and exactly which certificates and test reports will accompany the goods.

Questions

Ghana workwear supply: common questions

Do you supply FR coveralls that meet offshore operator HSE standards in Ghana?

Our FR garments are made from fabrics certified to EN ISO 11612 and EN ISO 11611, and the fabric certificates and mill test reports for the lot supplied accompany the consignment. Ghana's offshore operators apply international HSE specifications and ask the certification question early, so send us the relevant clause from the tender and we will confirm in writing which of our certified fabrics can be supplied against it.

Should we route through Tema or Takoradi?

Tema is the main container gateway and suits Accra, the Tema industrial area and general distribution. Takoradi is the offshore supply base and the natural entry point for the western mining belt around Tarkwa. If you are supplying both offshore crews and inland mine sites, we can split a consignment across the two ports.

How long does shipping from Mumbai to Ghana take?

Sea freight from Nhava Sheva to Tema typically runs twenty to twenty-six days in transit, and Takoradi twenty-one to twenty-seven. West African routings are among the longer ones from India, so we recommend building float into project timelines. Air freight into Accra is available for size sets and urgent offshore replenishment.

Can you supply mining and offshore requirements from the same order?

Yes. The two sectors want different garments, since offshore work is FR-led and mining is largely cotton coverall and footwear, but they can be produced and shipped together. We will keep separate specification sheets per garment type so reorders for each sector stay consistent.

Do you supply logo embroidery and contractor name panels?

Yes. Offshore site access rules commonly require the contractor name on the garment and sometimes the individual employee name. We supply embroidered chest logos, contractor name panels and individual name tapes, and we hold your specification on file so later batches match the first delivery.
